- Description
-
Tutelary couple turned towards each other and sharing a seat. The god wears a paridhāna and the uttarīya is in the narrow mode; the right leg is flexed to lie across the body and rests its foot below the knee of the slanting left leg which is supported on a footstool. He has a crested turban with a central ornament, globular earrings, a collar and bracelets, and his broad chest swells outwards over a narrow waist. One hand rests on the left knee; the other, damaged, was raised and joined to the upper arm.
The goddess, in a sleeved tunic and a long overgarment draped from her left shoulder, turns towards him from the waist upwards and joins her hands. Both feet rest on her footstool. The sleeves are ruched above bracelets. Above the wreath headdress is a loop of hair, the long earrings are indistinct and she also wears a collar. Both legs have anklets. The seat has a plain back with haloes overlapping its top, one or more cushions and drapery below. One footstool has a beaded motif, the other a zigzag.
