Description
Colour woodblock print, an oban diptych. The kabuki actors Iwai Tojaku I (right sheet) as Shirai Gonpachi, standing with swords, and Matsumoto Koshiro V (left sheet) as Chobei; in the ‘Suzugamori’ scene from the play ‘Mitsuicho gozonji no edozome’ (三銀杏御存地染) performed at the Nakamura theatre in the 5th month of 1833.
