Cylindrical box on a low stand which, from the remains of walls beneath it, was perhaps formerly the top of a base and the whole may have been part of a model stupa like BM 1887.0717.23. With a detachable domed lid supported on the flange below the rim it may, moreover, have served as a reliquary.

The drawing in the Museum Register resembles this object, which it calls a 'portion of a stupa shaped case', although the dimensions given (height 1.75 and 0.8 inches, or 4.5 and 2.1 cm) do not agree with the present object.
