Found in relics deposits 'Box 3', tray South Kensington Museum no.1090: '16 copper coins extracted from Tope Hidda'.
-
E. Errington: Also in the tray were Masson's original ink label 'No.3 Hidda. 16 Copper Coins Extracted from Tope Hidda' and a cryptic note 'Unadpherros? [sic; Gondophares] 5. Dr. 14.19. 31.16. 7[th] June [18]39'. Two additional notes in another hand state 'No. 3 Tope Hidda, p.106' and 'Wilson Ariana Antiqua p.106'. The South Kensington Museum record seems to be partly repeated under no.1062/India Museum no.2: see 1880.3983.a. Of the original 16 coins from Hadda Stupa 3 (1 'square Hermaeus', see 1880.3885.m, 1 Gondophares, 2 Azes posthumous issues, 12 Kujula Kadphises), there are now only 11 coins (10 Kujula, 1 Gondophares: 1880.3740.a-k). The remaining 2 coins now registered as 1880.3740.l-m ('Soter Megas' issues of Wima Takto) are probably from Passani Stupa 'tumulus' 2, or Bimaran Stupa 4, both of which contained coins of this type. For the reliquaries from Hadda Stupa 3, see 1880.3497, 1880.3983.i-j; for beads and other finds, see 1880.3891.f-g, 1880.3983.a-i.
