This slender Bodhisattva holds his attribute, the ‘vajra’, here an elongated and pointed wand without curved prongs, in his right hand and may have flanked a central Buddha like the Vajrapāṇi in Candi Mendut, but his left hand makes a different, expository, gesture. His lower garment is shorter than that of Padmapāṇi and ends in elaborate pleats, and his pearled sacred cord falls almost as far. His ornamented head-dress has no indication of hair, as has Padmapāṇi, but recalls the Nepalese Vajrācārya's crown (no. 166); like the Padmapāṇi, however, he has a strand of hair falling over each shoulder to the armpit.
