Complete tarot pack with 78 playing-cards for cartomancy (Etteilla), plus a booklet of instruction. The suits are those of ordinary tarot packs but fancifully treated. The clubs are short sticks and the coins discs bearing cabalistic characters. The subjects of the atouts are emblematical figures differing considerably from the conventional subjects. Hand-coloured etching. Backs printed in purple with a design of amoeba-like random forms. In original box. 19th Century
