Iron band-shaped umbo with square wings, from wooden shield. Lacking part of the right wing. Broken, and repaired with plaster strengthened with wire. One of the nails which would have attached it to the shield remains. The umbo is 244 mm long in total (perhaps 258 mm originally), left wing flared from 107 to 113 mm wide and the dome is 108 mm long. Tha nail head is 23 mm in diameter. Wood traces under the left wing, as usual, but also on the upper side of both wings and the dome (grain vertical, along the length of the grave, and presumably from another object).
