Adire composed of two lengths of machine plain woven cotton hand sewn together. Each narrow strip is divided into eight sections. The cloth is decorated with nine different starch resist dyed (indigo) patterns: 1. Repeating pattern of groups of three leaves on a spotted background. 2. Repeating geometric floral pattern with solid petals on a spotted background. 3. Repeating geometric floral pattern with striped petals on a spotted background. 4. Alternating chequered pattern with central decoration in the indigo squares 5. Diamond based pattern with floral and geometric decoration 6. Grid squares with cashew nut shaped decoration 7. Blocks of geometric patterning including grids and stripes 8. Chequered pattern with indigo squares decorated with crosses 9. Grid on a spotted background The cloth is unhemmed.
