Foot and part of bowl or shallow dish on low foot, sawn into an oval shape. Earthenware, covered front and back with presumed tin glaze and lustred in red and gold. Painted with a scene of Mercury, with caduceus, winged shoes and helmet turning Battus to stone. Subject from Ovid. Figure of Mercury after Marcantonio after Raphael or Giulio Romano. Foliate scrolls in red lustre on reverse.
