Description
Large pottery amphora in White Painted ware; wheel-made; ovoid body on a wide base, slightly concave underneath; tall and wide cylindrical neck; pair of opposing loop handles placed just below the shoulder of the vase; flaring mouth with a substantial rim; yellow-buff clay (some white inclusions) and a drab slip, decorated in dark purple to brown paint: parallel lines and wavy bands on the body, panels on the shoulder with geometric and organic patterns (lozenges, hatched and latticed triangles, stylised floral motifs, a quadruped standing next to a tree, swastikas etc), bands also around the mouth and inside the rim; surface worn in places.
