South Italian red figured pottery volute krater with medallion handles depicting; A: In a distyle Ionic heroon, a nude athlete moving to the right and looking back, holding a bucket in his right hand and a phiale ? in his left, on either side of ther heroon is a tall calathus full of fruits; B: Rev, female head facing to the left, ornamented with earings and necklace, hair gathered under a woven cap; decorated on the neck with a female head to the front, on each side of the head a flower; the handles are ornamented with gorgon's masks, at the lower juncture they curl over in two loops, terminating in swan's heads.
