Description
SILVER AND GILT-BRASS PAIR CASED PEDOMETER. : Plain silver inner case with glazed hinged bezel. Silver pendant. Gilt-brass outer case open front and back and with a long hinged lever at the bottom to operate the pedometer mechanism. The closing catch has been modified. : DIAL & HANDS White enamel dial calibrated in three circles, the outer calibrated 2-100 with dots between for double paces. The middle circle reads 10 x double paces and is numbered 2-50 with stars between. The innermost circle is calibrated for for 1,000 double paces and is numbered 1-10,000 with stars between. The dial is attached to the movement by two screws in the mechanism plate edge 9one now missing). Three finely made blued-steel hands, plain for double paces, moon pattern for 50 double paces and arrow-head for 10,000 double paces. : MOVEMENT The movement is housed in a single gilt-brass plate deeply recessed and gilded. The movement is retained in the case by three screws which are accessible when the dial is removed. A lever in the bottom of the movement, activated by the long lever on the outer case indexes a ratchet wheel which in-turn via wheels with indexing pins rotates second and third star wheels wheels which carry the hands.
