Painted Limoges enamel plaque; copper, rectangular; the Calumny of Apelles; on left is seated Folly with long ears and crowned, supported by Ignorance crowned and Suspicion, to them Envy introduces Calumny who is dragging Innocence by the hair; behind stand four other figures: Abiptone, Insidia, Penitentia and Verita; background represents the Piazza of SS Giovanni and Paolo at Venice; painted in grisaille on a black ground with highlights in gilding; counter enamel transparent and colourless; stamped with the punched lion mark of the Master K I P Jean Poilleve.
