Openwork silver sheet metal disc brooch inlaid with niello. It has an outer zone of alternating openwork and nielloed cartouches (the openwork panels mostly plant motifs, the niello-inlaid panels invariably animal motifs) encircling the main decorative area. This consists of a quincunx of bossed rivets connected to make a simple cross with nielloed plant and animal decoration; between its arms, are four openwork panels each containing a pair of addorsed beasts with nielloed body patterns and lolling tongues; their eyes were originally inlaid with glass. The back is plain, with a riveted pin attachment.
