A companion print to BMSat 6766. A young woman wearing hat, lace-trimmed mantle, and gloves sits, her right leg resting on the knee of a young man (left) who kneels on one knee placing a slipper on her foot. He is dressed in the height of the fashion in a cutaway coat and a high swathed neckcloth; she looks coyly at him, he gazes ardently at her. On the floor is the other slipper and the shoe, unbuckled, which she has taken off. Her muff is on a table beside her (right). The room is fashionably furnished. Striped curtains drape the window (left) through which trees are seen. The wall is papered and the floor carpeted. An elaborate chimney-piece partly visible (right) is decorated by an urn flanked by a pyramid on a rectangular base. 1784 Hand-coloured mezzotint
