Alabaster wall panel relief: showing Ashurnasirpal II besieging a strongly-walled town which is being defended by archers. The Assyrians have brought up a wooden 'tower' close to the walls, and the archers on the top of it are shooting at the enemy, whilst the men in the lower part of it are breaking down the walls with a battering ram. Behind the tower stands the king shooting at the foe with his bow, and close to him are his armour bearers and an attendant. The panel is inscribed with a cuneiform text.
