Vase; (vase d'Entrecolles); hard-paste porcelain (pâte nouvelle), cast; bulbous body on a flared foot; celadon ground decorated in two shades of green and in white; four circular medallions in pâte-sur-pâte depicting landmarks in Paris hang from a garland of flowers around the neck; each medallion is enclosed in a cartouche containing a ship, the emblem of Paris, and surmounted by a gateway; between these are pale green laurel-leaf garlands incorporating the dates of major events in the history of Paris; round the rim a band of dolphins with the city's motto; the decoration is all executed in low relief, the interior is white; the foot is made separately and attached to the body with a metal fitting.
