Marble frieze block showing the Amazonomachy. On the right side of the slab is an Amazon mounted backwards on her horse, which rears up and leaps away to right. She was shooting to left with a bow, presumably at one of the Greek warriors on the previous slab (1857.12-20.269). Her left arm, the hand of which must have held the bow, is missing from below the shoulder; of the right arm only the wrist and hand, seen from inside, are visible.
