Description
A broadside satirising Louis XIV by showing him on his deathbed after having heard that the news of William's III death was false; with an etching by de Hooghe showing the interior of a bedchamber with Louis XIV in bed, surrounded by the devil, clerics, courtiers, and a Royal messenger, in the L background execution grounds, and in the R background William of Orange approaching on a horse, in L foreground Pater Petre, and in the centre a small-scale reproduction of a French print which announces and satirises the death of William III; with engraved title, inscriptions, and numbering 1-28, and, on a separate sheet, letterpress title and Dutch and French verses, including legends, in six columns.
