SILVER PAIR-CASED VERGE WATCH WITH WANDERING-HOUR DIAL : MOVEMENT Circular gilt-brass plates with four tulip pillars. Riveted potence and riveted counter-potence. Gilt-brass barrel with tangent-screw set-up. Gilt-brass fusee with chain and standard stop-work, the block elaborately pierced with foliate scrolls. Four-wheel; going train with solid centre wheel and high-count centre pinion. Verge escapement with steel three-arm balance, spiral balance-spring and Tompion regulator, the silver index disc engraved 5-30. Gilt-brass balance-cock pierced and engraved with foliate scrolls and strap-work to the table and foot. : DIAL Gilt brass-edge with an engraved border. Silver champlevé dial with a semi-circular aperture for the wandering hours, the hour disc with a floral decoration in translucent orange, green and red champlevé enamel. Minutes numbered 0-60 around the outside of the aperture and quarters 0-4 around the inside. Two circular apertures in the hour disc show the hours I-XII successively as the diac rotates. The lower part of the dial is engraved with foliate strapwork, fish, a shell, fruit and a cherub's head around a signed cartouche. Silver pair-cases, the plain inner with a rotating cover for the winding hole. Inside the case are the maker's mark and numbers. Silver pendant. Silver outer case engraved with foliate scrolls and a mask around the band and bezel. In the middle of the back an engraved royal coat of arms of William III. Inside, the maker' mark, number and scratched inscription. In the outer case, a watch-paper with a piece of white printed paper inscribed.
