Known as "The Approach of Doom"; a group of men and women (perhaps seven of them: five are clearly visible) huddled together at the r of the design; they appear to be standing on a rock or a grassy bank at the edge of the sea; they are lookingly intently to the l, but we cannot see what they see: the rest of the plate is covered with obscure cloudly shapes - including a white streak at the top l which may be accidental. c.1788 Relief etching and white-line etching
