Oval silver-cased verge watch in the form of a shell.Case: Oval fluted silver case in the form of a shell with raised flutes radiating from the pendant area. Cast, shaped silver pendant with loose ring. Very small silver finial. Dial and hands: Silver dial, engraved around the outside with flowers and scrolling foliage. Engraved chapter-ring with Roman hours I-XII, and arrow-head half-hour marks surrounding a quarter-circle. Central area engraved with floral design featuring daisy and tulip style flowers. Hand missing. Movement: Oval gilt-brass plates with four Egyptian pillars. Gilt-brass pinned balance cock pierced and engraved with assymetric foliate/floral motif. Tangent-screw set-up with corroded remains of steel brackets for work gear. Silver disc with arabic numerals (1-8). Gilt-brass barrel and fusee with gut-line. Gilt-brass wheels.Verge escapement.
