Description
Pottery: red-figured amphora.
(a) A woman seated to right in a chair, playing at ball. She has one ball in each hand, and is occupied apparently in tossing them from one hand to the other; she wears sleeved chiton, himation, and a fillet wound thrice round her looped-up hair. Before her feet is a goose. In the field an imitation inscription.
(b) Ephebos, closely muffled in his himation, which is passed over the back of his head, standing to left, leaning forward on his staff.
Drawing very careless. Late stage of good period. Eye in transition. Purple fillet, balls, and inscription. Brown inner markings. Below each side, key pattern.
