A woman's short waistcoat, worn over 2008,8011.5; square neckline. Tabby cotton ground cloth has printed polychrome floral design with red ground; typical of Russian/Soviet cloth. Embellished with strips of cotton lacework, commercially made. A vertical line of mother-of-pearl buttons at side of neckline. All edges piped with black/cream printed cotton cloth. Both lower front flaps have a row of three large solar motifs, worked in polychrome circular and tubular plastic beads and more buttons; flaps lined with floral printed cotton cloth (cream/red blossoms on yellow 'ground'). Waistcoat lined with natural cream tabby cotton cloth.
