Sugar Bowl and Cover (pot à sucre Calabre); soft-paste porcelain; straight-sided with slightly domed cover surmounted by a cherry-and-leaf knop; bowl decorated with an oval panel of violas and another of pink roses on a white ground within a tooled gilt frame on a green ground; near the rim a band of blue convolvulus on a white ground, and near the foot a band of small pink flowers; central area enclosed between gilt lines, the upper one with gilt ornament in the rococo style; the foot and rim are gilt; gilt dentil inside bowl; cover painted with violas and roses in smaller panels on a green ground, and with a band of the same small pink flowers near the rim between two gilt lines; rim and finial gilt; maker's mark.
