Small lidded vessel of coiled split bamboo in its state immediately after coiling and prior to the application of lacquer. This is coiled with one level carefully overlapping the next, and with the end of one length of bamboo notched and hooked on to the beginning of the next strip. The vessel has been lightly glued, the next stage in the process of manufacture. This helps hold the structure solid while the layers of lacquer paste are applied. Coiled bamboo acts as an armature for lacquer. There is also a lid and an extra piece of coiled bamboo.
