Description
Copper alloy strap-fitting, comprising two sub-circular plates connected by an integral rod of circular section, bent back on itself to form a half-loop, so that the plates are together. Sandwiched between the two plates are the remains of a leather strip, secured by three rivets that pass through both plates. The strap-fitting is attached by its half-loop to a U-shaped mount with flattened, lozenge-shaped terminals. Each terminal is pierced by a single rivet with expanded head. The strap-fitting has a silvery, white metal appearance. It may have been silvered, tinned or is perhaps made of silver.
The strap-fitting is similar in construction to another in the burial, registration number 1883,1214.29.
