Watercolour painting on paper of the Taj Mahal and its gardens. The painting shows the front of the Taj Mahal from the entrance gate to the complex. The mausoleum stands on a plinth with a minaret at each of the four corners. They are all faced with white marble inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones creating floral patterns and inscriptions. The Taj Mahal is topped by a bulbous white dome which is flanked by two smaller domed structures. The main façade of the mausoleum is decorated with alcoves which are covered in floral decorations. Lattice work screen are shown over the windows and doorway of the mausoleum. Surrounding the plinth and main building is a garden, with shrubs and trees in clearly defined beds. In between these are numerous water channels and fountains which run through the garden. In the foreground of the painting is a small plinth on which a raised fountain and water tank is shown. The painting is framed by a thick black line.
