Gold box or cigarette case; of flattened oval form in white and red gold, engine-turned with a pattern of ribs forming elongated loops enclosing a square-set lapis at each end, the spaces within the loops and between each group of ridges inlaid with white gold. The inlay is clearly visible on the inside of the box. The ends set with panels of blue jade, the push-piece set with a single hexagonal sugar-loaf cut piece of lapis lazuli. London hallmarks for 1968. Contained in the original rectangular deep red textured leather Cartier case with cut corners, and stamped and gilded tooling. The interior with cream silk lining to the lid and raised cream velvet base. Printed in gold inside the lid: CARTIER LONDON 175 NEW BOND ST PARIS 13 RUE DE LA PAIX NEW YORK 712 5th AVENUE
