Gold box or cigarette case; an upright cube, the top and bottom inlaid with mother-of-pearl, the sides inset with silver panels enamelled in pale blue on an engine-turned ground; the top forms the lid and is mounted with a flower basket of rubies, sapphires and emeralds set in platinum, the four corners highlighted with a diamond in a triangular setting. The visible areas of gold engine-turned with parallel lines. The box constructed of a double layer of metal, the inside lined in plain gold and highly polished. London hallmarks. Contained in the original rectangular red leather Cartier case with cut corners and stamped floral swags in gold. The interior with silk lining to the lid and velvet base. Printed in gold inside the lid with the Cartier stamp as on 1969,0705.42. Blind-stamp on base W&O
