Description
Woman's chemise, hand-spun and hand-woven linen, with 'lantern' sleeves, back and front formed of three pieces of fabric each side, the two central seams sewn with black cotton thread, gathered at neck and finished at front with an extra piece of fabric the ends of which form two small ties. The back of the neck decorated with a row of fine embroidery in black thread, with a central motif of a triangle with three dots. The full sleeves formed of two pieces of fabric, the seams on underside and front outlined in black thread as are the gathers on the shoulder; the cuffs tightly gathered, with black embroidered detail and a narrow tie formed of a double twist of white string; gusset under the arm. The sleeves starched and pleated on both sides to create a folding lantern effect.
