In this video, Sue Brunning talks about early Anglo-Saxon swords and what they can tell us about their owners.

During the Anglo-Saxon period, swords were the most prestigious weapon, which can be gleaned from art and literature of the time, as well as archaeology. They were buried on or near their owner, sometimes even cradled, giving an indication that they were integral to that person's identity.
