China: Journey to the East
Tour dates: 17 December 2011 - 12 April 2012
Now showing at: Weston Park Museum, Sheffield

China: Journey to the East spans 3,000 years of Chinese history and culture, exploring themes of play and performance, technology, belief and festivals, food and drink, and language and writing. The exhibition aims to introduce China to family audiences as well as promote the teaching of China in schools.
The first venue, Bristol's City Museum and Art Gallery, launched the show with great fanfare during Chinese New Year 2009. A diverse programme of events across the museum and neighbouring University of Bristol attracted thousands of visitors across the weekend, and an exciting schools programme promoted the teaching of China to schools in the south-west of England.
The exhibition is supported by BP, a CHINA NOW legacy project. Further support was provided through the DCMS/DCFS National/Regional Education Partnerships Programme 2008–9.
