Jago Cooper was appointed as Curator of the Americas in the department of Africa, Oceania and the Americas in 2012.

Jago has responsibility for the curation, presentation, development and research of the Americas collections at the British Museum. Jago has carried out fieldwork in Colombia, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Belize, Mexico, UK, Spain, Sri Lanka, Australia, Rapa Nui and the Dominican Republic.
