Hajj: journey to the heart of Islam: online contributions

What will my contribution be used for?
We will use all or part of your contribution on the British Museum website in association with the pages about our exhibition Hajj: Journey to the heart of Islam. We may also use it  in the exhibition itself and in other activities related to marketing, press, learning activities, community activities, and for scholarly research, in any format and/or media throughout the world. By making your contribution you agree we may use all or part of it for these purposes and that we will have the right to arrange and edit it for use at our discretion. However we agree not to use your contribution for anything other than what we have listed here.

How will I know if my contribution has been used?
You will be sent an email to let you know if your contribution has been used. However we are under no obligation to use your contribution.

How long will my contribution be used for?
By submitting your contribution you agree that we may use it for an indefinite period.

What will you use my email address for?
Unless  you agree otherwise, we will only use your email address to contact you about the Hajj online project. If you wish to sign up for British Museum enewsletters you can do so here

What if I want to withdraw my contribution?
If you have any queries about how we are using your contribution, or want to withdraw it from use by us, please email info@britishmuseum.org. However you should please understand that after you have submitted your contribution it may not be possible for us to withdraw it from us and we will be under no obligation to do so. We will try to deal with your query or request within two weeks and as sympathetically as we can . It is essential that you provide your name and the original email address you used when submitting your contribution

Your contribution must be about your experience of Hajj. 

By submitting you contribution you warrant that you have full right and power to do so on the terms set out on this page and that you  will thereby assign to us forever the copyright and all other rights (in any format and/or media) in your contribution.

By making your contribution you agree  that you will also be waiving any so-called  “moral rights” in it and that you consent to our use of your “personal data” supplied with it  (“personal data” has the meaning of the Data Protection Act 1998) for the purpose described on this page.

You agree that we shall not be liable to you for any loss, damage or injury caused or suffered in connection with our use of your contribution unless caused directly by our negligence and recoverable on that ground.

The terms set out on this page shall form the entire agreement between us, shall be freely assignable by us and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
