Meet the Trustees

Muriel Gray graduated from Glasgow School of Art, working first as an illustrator before being appointed Assistant Head of Design at the Museum of Antiquities in Edinburgh.

After presenting channel 4's iconic music programme 'The Tube', a long career in broadcasting followed, including presenting, directing and producing, and the founding of Gallus Besom, which grew into Scotland's largest and most successful independent television production company.

In addition, she has for many years been an opinion writer in a broad range of publications and won awards as a columnist.

She's the only woman to have been appointed Rector of Edinburgh University and is the first female Chair of the Board of Governors of Glasgow School of Art, an office still currently held. She was appointed Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in February 2018.

Gray is the author of three novels, many short stories and two non-fiction books, including the history of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

She lives in Glasgow with her husband and children.
