People behind the collection

The British Museum collection is made up of many personal stories. There are hundreds of people who have contributed to the collections in large or small ways. Some people collected with the intention of donating or selling to the British Museum, other people donated archaeological finds, while others organised excavations. All have had a significant role in making the British Museum collection what it is today.
