Mohammed Aneh Tatari
Born Turkmen Sahara, Iran, 1957
Tatari received an MA in painting from Azad University,Tehran, and now teaches fine arts at Tehran University, Iran. He often travels back to his homeland, the Turkmen region in the north-east of Iran, where he gains much of his inspiration. He is particularly fond of warm colours, notably orange and red, and their parallels in the desert landscapes with which he is familiar. He has participated in more than forty group and solo exhibitions in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and India, including a solo exhibition at Leighton House, London, 2002; Gardens of Iran: Ancient Wisdom,New Vision alongside works by Parviz Tanavoli, Behrooz Daresh and Siah Armajani (among others) at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, 2004; and a show with his pupils at the Barg Art Gallery,Tehran, 2005. His works are held by museums in England, Iran and Jordan. He is the recipient of awards from a number of Tehran Arts Festivals, 2000–5, and biennials of contemporary painting of the Islamic world in Tehran, Iran, 2003 and 2006.
