Malekeh Nayiny
Born Tehran, Iran, 1955
Nayiny obtained a BA in fine arts and photography from Syracuse University, New York in 1978. She pursued her studies in cinematography at the Parsons School of Design, New York, 1979–80, and in advanced photography at the International Center of Photography, New York, 1980–2. She participated in touring exhibitions, including La Photographie entre Histoire et Poésie – photographie de la collection FNAC, France, Italy and Spain, 2004–5; and Détournements de l’Intime with Shadi Ghadirian, France, Spain, Portugal and Russia, 2001–5. Her works have also been shown at Photo-London, Royal Academy of Art, London, 2005, and at Iran under the Skin, Barcelona Centre of Contemporary Art, 2004,where she displayed her installation Vasile: Hansel and Gretel.Nayiny also creates designs for porcelains and textiles. She lives and works in Paris.
