Sabiha Al Khemir
Born Tunisia, 1959
Al Khemir is an art historian, artist and novelist. She obtained
Her MA from the School of Oriental and African Studies,
London, 1986, and her PhD in Islamic art and archaeology
From the University of London, 1990. Her work includes a
First novel Waiting in the Future for the Past to Come (1993),
an essay in Meetings with Remarkable Muslims (2005), book
illustrations and book covers - among the latter Naguib
Mahfouz's novel Respected Sir. She has exhibited in Europe
and the United States, including the touring exhibition Dialogue
of the Present, the Work of 18 Arab Women Artists, United
Kingdom, 1999-2000. Al Khemir is currently chief curator of
The Islamic Art Museum, Doha, Qatar.
