Salam Khedher

Born Amara, Iraq, 1953

Portrait of Salam KhedherKhedher obtained a BA in art and design from the Academy of Fine Arts, Baghdad, 1976, and a BA in Fine Arts from Concordia University, Montreal, 1994. He studied etching and printmaking at the Municipal Institute, Barcelona, 1980–5;mural painting at the University of Madrid, 1980–2; and silkscreen at Concordia University, Montreal, 1987–91. He has exhibited in the Middle East, Russia, the USA, Canada and Europe, including the touring exhibition Strokes of Genius: Contemporary Iraqi Art, which began in London, 2000. Khedher has given lectures on Iraqi art and has participated in several events supporting contemporary creativity in Iraq, 2004–5. He lives and works in Switzerland.
