Shadi Ghadirian
Born Tehran, Iran,1974
Ghadirian obtained a BA in photography from the Azad Art University, Tehran, 1998. She has worked at the first museum of photography in Tehran, the Akskhaneh Shahr, and has managed the first Iranian website dedicated solely to photography. Her work has been exhibited in the Middle East, Europe, the USA, Canada and Russia, including Iranian Contemporary Art at the Barbican Centre, London, 2001; touring exhibitions Veil, England and Sweden, 2003–4; Harem Fantasies and the New Scheherazades, Spain and France, 2003–4; and Women in Orient – Women in Occident, Germany, 2003–4; the Sharjah International Biennial, 2003; and the photo biennial of Moscow, 2004. Her work is in private and public collections including the Musée National d'Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, and the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien (MUMOK),Vienna. She lives and works in Tehran.
