Ahmed Mater Al-Ziad
Born Tabouk, Saudi Arabia, 1979
Mater studied medicine and surgery in Abha, Saudi
Arabia. In 1995 he followed a course on drawing and
Photography at the Al-Miftaha Art Village, King Fahad
Cultural Centre, Abha, which he joined in 1998. His work,
comprising drawings, paintings and photographs, has been
exhibited in a number of solo and group exhibitions in Saudi
Arabia. He has received several awards, among them the
Abna Cultural Prize for Photography, 2001, and first place in
the King Khalid University contest in drawing, 2004. Mater is
the founder of the Al-Miftaha cultural magazine, 2001, and
instigator of a large number of art initiatives in Saudi Arabia.
