Abdul Qadir Al-Raes

Born Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 1951

Al-Raes had his first solo exhibition in Dubai, 1974, shortly after completing his studies. His work, deeply inspired by his homeland, has since been exhibited on numerous occasions in the United Arab Emirates and the rest of the Gulf region, as well as in North Africa, Europe, South and North America, China and Australia. Al-Raes has received a number of prizes, including the Jury Award at the Sharjah Biennial, 1993, and the Golden Palm Leaf (alsa’afa al-dhahabia) at the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) exhibition, 1999.
