What just happened?

To celebrate Vikings Live, we have replaced our Roman alphabet with the runic alphabet used by the Vikings, the Scandinavian ‘Younger Futhark’. The ‘Younger Futhark’ has only 16 letters, so we have used some of the runic letters more than once or combined two runes for one Roman letter.

For an excellent introduction to runes, we recommend Martin Findell’s book published by British Museum Press.

Profile

Do not be fooled by this bear's plain name - Jane is a pseudonym she uses to conceal her racier nature. She looks demure and proper but is tough as steel (although her stuffing has worn a bit thin) and very resilient and has been waiting all her life for an opportunity to ride off on the back of a big motorbike.

Like most other bears, she's a great listener and never criticises. She appreciates the finer things in life (her dress is from Harrods) and is also someone you'd be happy to take into the jungle.

Vital statistics? At 12 inches high, the perfect stunt teddy. As a lady she is unlikely to reveal her true age to you but as both she and her dress are rather threadbare, you could hazard a guess...if you offer her a place on the seat of your bike shrine maybe she will tell all.
