Bank of America Merrill Lynch is delighted to sponsor Rodin and the art of ancient Greece.
We have a long-standing relationship with the British Museum. Through our Art Conservation Project we proudly supported the restoration of the British Museum’s impressive sixth-century Amitābha Buddha sculpture, on view in its North Staircase. Prior to that, we enabled the conservation of a group of Begram Ivories and sponsored the corresponding exhibition of these works in the British Museum’s Afghanistan: Crossroads of the Ancient World.
We know that the arts matter. They provide education, and are the heart of a thriving public community; they inspire creativity and empathy for the human experience through the ages.
Moreover, the arts speak to us in a universal language that provides pathways to greater cultural understanding, something Rodin would have appreciated. He was inspired by the history and magnificence of the Classical antiquities which he witnessed at the British Museum.
We hope you will enjoy this unique presentation of how that experience shaped Rodin, both as an artist and as a man.
Additional support for the exhibition catalogue has been provided by the Henry Moore Foundation.
