Profile
Tigers is a very well travelled bear. He was made for me in 1950 by two women prisoners in Holloway prison. My grandfather was vicar of the prison and used to take me on his visits to see the women inmates. These women were not allowed to see their children or allowed to keep their babies if they gave birth in prison.
Tigers has been with me all my life. He accompanied me and my family to Afghanistan in 1954. He climbed with me through the caves to the top of one of the enormous buddhas in Bamian and sat on its head – the view was spectacular!
We also lived in Moscow, Bangkok, Singapore and Tanganyika (as it was called then) in Dar-es-Salaam. Now we live in West Sussex.
I am a grandmother of two grandsons and they love him! Tigers is always up for an adventure and sitting in the British Museum for a few weeks would be very exciting!
