Osamu Tezuka expert Helen McCarthy introduces three episodes from the 1980 colour television series based on the manga character Astro Boy. Osamu Tezuka, creator of Astro Boy, took total command of the production of this series as he believed that the first series (1963) televised in Japan did not reflect the intention of the original comics.
