Professor Sigrid Deger-Jalkotzy, Director of the Mykenische Kommission, Vienna, argues that the fall of the Mycenaean palaces around 1200 BC was not followed by a Dark Age in Greece but by a period of challenge, creativity and transformation, despite the catastrophic destruction and demise of the palace system.
