This Halloween, join us and celebrate the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain at the first ever Members' exclusive Museum late. Reflecting the themes of shadow, light, life and death, help us celebrate in the spirit of Samhain.


During Samhain, people bid farewell to the summer as the darker half of the year approached. Say goodbye to summer with our light-themed activities.

A festival of the changing of seasons, it was believed that during Samhain the boundaries of physical world and the shadowy otherworld were blurred. In our shadow-themed areas, you’ll be able to discover the mysteries that lurk beyond the fire’s light.

Life is central to Samhain – the Celts would make offerings of food and drink to spirits in the hope that life would be preserved through the winter. Celebrate with plenty of food and drink on offer in our life-themed areas.

During Samhain the souls of the dead were welcomed back to the land of the living by their families. Join us to listen to tales of Museum’s past and meet its historic inhabitants…
